"Hundreds of innocent people fleeing for their lives. . . struggling for their freedom, for their lives. . . their villages are burned to the ground. . . their homes destroyed. . . their lives are full of sickness, pain, death. . . without Jesus. . ."
My heart ached. . . "Oh, Father. . . what can I do? what can I do?? I want to help them!"
The next few months. . .
For some reason that desire, that question, never really left my mind. I eagerly read every update of from those who were there, giving their lives to help these people. All the while I quietly hoped that some day, some day, I would not longer be limited to long distance support. . .
Once again I heard of the pain, the suffering, the need. . .
The Adams family, along with one other family that was planning on going over there for a few months, was at our church sharing the story of the Karen people and the school that they had helped establish for the Karen in Thailand. More than ever I wanted to help. And I knew the Lord would have to work a miracle to get me there.
What I didn't realize was that the miracle was already happening! That evening the Adams asked my dad if he would consider being the principal of Sunshine Orchards Children's Home and Education Center. Wow!!! I was shocked, thrilled!
From then 'til now. . .
Time has simply flown by since we got the call last November. We took the call seriously and much prayer, research, study, and counsel from Godly friends has followed. I never would have guessed that we would be where we are today -- raising the funds to move to Thailand. And the best part is that I am not going alone! I am taking my family with me! PTL!!
Please, do keep us in your prayers. Every day we feel more of our inadequacy to fill this call, but we claim the promise that "all His biddings are enablings."
