Another Year of Blessings

It is so hard to believe that another year of my life has come to a close... And when I think back on all the things that the Lord has done for me it just amazes me that such a perfect sinless God could love me, a sinful human being! So I will give you a short sketch of the many things that have happened in the last year which turned out to be a year full of "firsts" for me. I started off my fourteenth year of life as an only child in the home for the first time... Sharon was gone to the Philippines for 5 weeks and I was at home and got to enjoy helping with a wedding reception which was a lot of fun! Shortly after she returned I had my first opportunity to edit a video about the history of our local church. I was SO excited because editing video is something I have wanted to do for a long time and now my dream was coming true! Since then I have had the opportunity to edit and help with several videos. Then in May I got to preach my first sermon, which was about honoring our parents, along with Sharon and another youth from our church. It was such a blessing! About that time several people were asking me if I was planning on going to Young Disciple Youth Bible Camp that summer, but I told them that I had decided not to go and to use my money for other things. But then on Friday afternoon just before the second week of camp started, someone called and asked my dad if I would go to camp if they sponsored me.When Dad asked me if I would go, I decided that I couldn't pass up going for free, so I quickly got a few things together before sundown and then finished my packing on Sunday morning! It was fun to see the surprised look on peoples faces when they saw me when I showed up at YD that afternoon. By the end of the week I had been spiritually awakened and encouraged to grow closer to the Lord. The Lord knew better than I did that I needed to be there. Shortly after YD camp I went on a backpacking trip with my family and grandparents, and it was such a blessing to be out in God's beautiful creation! The rest of my year was filled with a church camp-out, a campmeeting, an evangelistic series ( which I got to help record the video and audio of and then edit and publish the discs ), lots of canning, moving into a different house, doing 9th grade, and many wonderful weekends with dear friends. But I think the most important thing that happened in the past year is that I have grown closer to the Lord than I ever have been before! PTL! And I pray that each one of us will continue to be drawn closer to the our heavenly Father every day of the year!

The joy of the Lord is my strength.

God bless,
~Hannah
